Our 2012 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay was sourced from the same source as the 2011 – a great parcel planted to the Old Wente clone near Occidental and planted on its own roots in pure Goldridge soil. This cool site is farmed by Dutton Ranch. This is the most complex Chardonnay we have yet produced, with tremendously varied aromatics of peach, lime blossom, passion fruit, lemon, wet stones, clove, cinnamon, crème brulee, and anisette. The palate is rich and full, yet there are glorious acids providing structure and verve. The finish is strong, with a sneaky persistence. The wine was fermented in 50% new French Oak barrels with bi-weekly lees-stirring to enrich the wine.
